Salare Security LLC is an Illinois Limited Liability Company headquartered at 200 S. Wacker Drive, 15th Floor, Chicago, IL 60606. Salare develops and markets security appliances and OEM security software for use in IT infrastructures supporting all types of enterprises.

Management Team

Paul R. Sand, Founder and CEO. Paul is an experienced executive in high-tech industries with over 20 years of experience. His expertise ranges from managing small start-ups to business within very large corporations. He has worked at Bell Laboratories, AT&T Network Systems, Lucent Technologies and the mVerify Corporation. He has managed organizational budgets in excess of $25M and held P&L responsibility for product lines in excess of $1B dollars. As an avid inventor, Paul is responsible for inventing and co-inventing 42 inventions that have resulted in 21 US patents to date.

Paul is the Workgroup Chairman for VoIP Security Project of the Internet Security Alliance that has been sponsored by NIST and DHS. Paul is a contributor to second revision of the Financial Impact of Cyber Risk published by the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) Homeland Security Standards Panel (HSPP). He is a member of the ANSI Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel, a member of the Chicago Chapter of the FBI InfraGard (Infrastructure Protection), a member of the US Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force, and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

Karen Letain, VP of Marketing. Karen Letain is a high performing executive with key experience in strategic partnership building and channel and market development in the IT Security Market. She was formerly President and co-owner, CMI Inc., a channel management company that built strategic partnerships and boosted channel sales for large brand name IT Security manufacturers. Under her direction CMI became one of Canada’s fastest growing companies and was awarded the 2007/2008 Canada Hot Profit 50.

Prior to co-founding CMI Inc., Karen held management positions: At IP3, Inc. as Vice President Strategic Market Development, she assisted in strategic direction, operations and spearheaded cooperative vendor partner programs that drove additional revenue into the company. At Wave Thomson Learning, a division of the Thomson Corporation, as Vice President of Canadian Operations Karen was responsible for building the overall market plan for Canadian expansion. She developed and launched a unique strategic partner program able to leverage competitors’ clients through a network of co-operative marketing.. And, at Corel Corporation as Director of Professional Services for Corel Corporation she was responsible managing the international professional services team that customized software applications for key clients. She also managed the training partner and training certification program teams and launched Corel’s certification training and examination programs. Karen holds a Post Baccalaureate Degree in Educational Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. Karen holds various board positions with IT companies in the Ottawa Canada region and speaks regularly on both IT Security and Management topics.

Kenneth W. Kousky, Chairman of the Board. Ken is also the Founder, President and CEO of IP3. Ken Kousky, is a veteran of the IT software and services industries. Few individuals are able to blend such a broad range of experience and expertise as an executive (he was CEO of a public company for six years), as an educator and as a technologist His years of experience as both an educator and an entrepreneur (recipient of Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award) are reflected in his business and professional accomplishments. Ken is a visionary in the computing technology, education and marketing industry with three successful start-ups, two major mergers and an IPO under his belt. He received his Master's degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Urban Studies from Washington University. Ken also holds a CISSP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification.
